Our favorite tea bowls act like extensions of the hand, vessels intended to be cradled throughout the day. Taiwanese potter, Zhang Hao Yan is a master of this form, each bowl gently curved and sized to hold close. Black glaze darkens the surface of this stoneware piece, pulled and pooling in soft waves of iron oxide and moss-hued greens, care of the wood fired kiln. With spacious interiors, Zhang’s tea bowls are ideally proportioned for whisking fresh matcha, creating further contrasts in color between the bright green of the powdered tea and nebulous dark glaze work.
This bowl is one of a kind.
Usage and care: To wash, simply rinse between uses or hand scrub. We do not recommend use of detergent.
