Taiwanese potter, Zhang Hao Yan is a master of this form, each bowl gently curved and sized to hold close. An arresting combination of black, cream, and iron-rich pinks and reds collide on the glazed surface of this wood fired piece, in constant visual motion like sand under water. With a spacious interior, this vessel is ideally proportioned for whisking fresh matcha, creating further contrasts in color between the bright green of the powdered tea and the ink dark glaze.
