Simple, elegant, and practical, the Song Gaiwan is the result of decades of experience brewing tea here at the studio, with constant consideration for what makes a vessel both functional and beautiful. Intended to serve the novice tea drinker and appeal to the aesthetics of veteran teaware collectors alike, we’ve designed each element of this pot with particular intention: a subtly flared lip to conserve heat, walls thick enough to protect fingers from heat but thin enough to easily lift and pour, and two choices of volume size, for individual or shared tea brewing, across hand sizes.

Each gaiwan is handmade in Jindezhen from local porcelain clay with a translucent ash glaze. The bottom of the vessel features the hand painted Chinese character for Song in cobalt blue.
